New Orleans Budget Friendly Travel Tips
Travelling to New Orleans can be surprisingly affordable, you just need to know how to do it right. If you want to have a standout vacation that won't set you back financially, consider these easy ways of saving money on your trip to New Orleans.
Affordable New Orleans Travel Tips
Off Season Travel – Although New Orleans itself really doesn’t have an off season since there is literally something amazing happening at any time of year at all hours, the general travel off season is typically from October – March. This is a good time to look for travel deals and coincidentally, a great time to visit New Orleans. From crisp but not cold fall and winter seasons; Christmas, New Orleans Style; and of course Mardi Gras, these “off” months are totally on in New Orleans. Just remember to book your Mardi Gras travel early to avoid higher prices.
Transportation – Avoid overpriced taxis or car services. Our airport shuttles are much more affordable and are very convenient for transporting groups from the airport to the hotel. Likewise, the New Orleans Tours buses are the more affordable option for transporting big meeting, corporate or sports groups compared to limo services.
Free fun – New Orleans has many great free or low-cost activities for visitors to enjoy. Some options are exploring the beautiful Audubon Park and City Park, taking a walk along the Riverwalk, taking a classic streetcar ride down St. Charles Avenue, taking the ferry over to Algiers Point, visiting the Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art and catching some free live music at Jazz in the Park in Armstrong Park.
Avoid tourist traps – If you’re not sure where to dine in New Orleans, don’t just go to the first neon sign on Bourbon Street advertising New Orleans food. There are plenty of excellent dining options that won’t break the bank. Check out the restaurant members of our sister company On the Town for some quality options.
